So I am trying my luck again. This week's photo challenge consists of bubble blowing. What wedding wouldn't be complete without the kiddos blowing bubbles! I absolutely love the little boy's face in this photo... so intense and working so hard to get those bubbles out before his sisters!

Crazy to believe that it has been a year since little Lucy arrived! Now she is almost one and practically walking! I am so thankful to be a part of the Nelson's life and have loved photographing this little cutie every 3 months! (It also gives me an excuse to see my wonderful friend and catch up on life!) Dre, here are some snippets of the session we did on Sat. We just beat the rain, and Lucy did a wonderful job, even if we were cutting it close to nap time!

Working from home

So I have been terrible at keeping up with blogging this summer. The days continue to float by, but I LOVE the fact that I can work from home and use these wonderful days to work, and play with my kids! On Wednesday we all went out scoping for new locations for me to shoot at, and I think I found a place... thanks to my kiddos! Luckily, for them we got to play at the park, after we found it, and then head out for treats form Trader Joe's!

Love this. Ben is standing now (Sad, my baby is growing up). All 3 of them in their sweet essence.

I absolutely love it when people give me the freedom to be creative. Give me that, extremely perfect lighting, a wonderfully fun venue and a beautiful model and... perfection! Dani, her mom Penny, and I hit up the Mill City/ Warehouse area downtown to do Dani's senior photos. I could not have asked for a more charming, fun girl. She was so easy to work with and was still smiling after our 3 hour session. Here are just a few of my favs, there were too many to choose from! A morning with the family

It was a wonderful morning! Two families that I have photographed in the past, the Hoilien's and Wurst's, had the whole family in the Cities for a wedding. With 17 people, we headed out to the Roseville Arboretum, and perused the place, finding nooks and crannies to shoot some super fun photos in. When Stacy called to see if I would photograph her family, I was thrilled. Her grandfather lives with them and they are truly a multi-generational family! I just loved the way Elijah and his great-grandaddy interacted with each other. There was such a connection between them. Elijah tottled around making sure "gram-pa" was ar ound following them. After 2 re-scheduling because of rain and illness, I was glad we had some beautiful weather to photograph in. Thank you Owen's family for allowing me into your world for an evening!

Chuck and Serena were married at beautiful Fort Snelling in St. Paul. The day was absolutely perfect! The sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky! We had a blast roaming the grounds, and then headed to the cathedral in St. Paul. Chuck and Serena, thanks so much for allowing me to be a part of your day!

Michael and Laura were so fun to work with! I think out of all the weddings I have done this year, we visited the most locations in one day. This beautiful couple was married in a very small church in southern Minnesota and their reception was held at the Art center in Rochester. We had the best of the country (farm houses, deserted roads, fields) and the City (skyscrapers, bridges, urban). From and artistic standpoint it was very appealing. Thanks to you both for letting me a part of your wonderful day; your love for each other glows to all around you.

Today while checking out all my favorite blog sites, I came across this super fun web-site I heart faces (open to all photographers in all walks) that displays just that! Every week there are new judges and new themes. This week there are 2 different themes; a wedding faces photo, and a "just for fun" photo. Below is my just for fun entry.

My oldest, Lydia 4, absolutely hates ( ok really dreads, is disgusted, repulsed, need I say more...) by having her hair done. One winter day in the midst of boredom I suggested we make her look like a bride (one of her favorite things to do right now). I pulled out the hot rollers and started at it. This is the expression that I got about half way through, not because the rollers were too hot, but because she was done with having her hair done. I had to send it to my hubbie at work. We both got such a kick out of it. This is just our Lydia!

I'll admit, I have been terrible at blogging this past week. Here are the some sneak peeks from the 2 weddings that I shot last weekend. It was a whirlwind, the 19th I headed down to Rochester to do a late night wedding, and then back up the the Cities later that evening only to start with a wedding at 10 the next day! Thankfully I had 2 amazing couples to work with and beautiful weather to shoot in, more to come later this week before we head out on vacation!!

Jonathan 9 months

Jonathan is just one of the cutie little babies that is so easy to photgraph! This is the third shoot that we have done together and it is so fun to watch him grow! The older I get, the faster time goes by. I shot Chris and Sarah's wedding in Jan of 2008, and now I am able to see them on a quarterly basis because of their little man! We hit up Northwestern's campus for and got some great teeth shotos! I am looking forward to more shoots to come as Jonathan grows!

Ben- 6 months

Yikes! Where has time gone?! My little guy just hit 6 months about 2 weeks ago and I seriously can't believe how fast it has gone. This guy is so easy and laid back (probably like most 3rd borns). Rarely cries and is SO happy. Love the chubby cheeks and thighs. Neither of the girls had those rolls so I have to say I am so thankful to be squeezing them! Yesterday we all headed outside despite the cloudy skies and just used our wonderful old garage as a backdrop.Love the expressions here, so much like his dad.We headed to the park and my 2 year old, Elise was just dying to be photographed, so here she is showing me her tricks on the swing.

Nora- 18 months

Angie was one of my college roommates and lives only a city away from us! I met up with Ang, her wonderful husband, Max, and their 18 month old Nora last week. We had a great time exploring Theo Wirth Parkway and eventually ended up at a beach and playground with some great "props". Believe it or not, this beautiful, smiley, little girl gave us a run for our time! We had a few melt downs, only to be followed by bursts of laughter. I have to say I am not in the least bit surprised. My girls are the same way, so I just had the camera ready, aimed, and fired when those bright smiles came. Thankfully there were plenty!

Michael and Laura's paths crossed back when they were very young. Their brother's used to play together and Laura was always somewhere in the mix. Off and on throughout high school their lives were intertwined and after high school they lost touch, until facebook! They reconnected there and the rest is history! The three of us hit up Centennial Lakes in Edina and had a great time chatting and photographing. They are naturals in front of the camera, and I look forward to their big day in June!

I absolutely love my job. I really do.

It is so easy to do when you gt a beautiful couple like Kate and Andy! This couple truly had an amazing day to get married, the weather was perfect and the fun never stopped. We started the day off by shooting around the Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church and then hit up a few side streets and alleys for some street shots. After some strolling around, we hit up a school carnival where Andy showed Kate his rippling muscles and then headed back to the church. Following the ceremony we took a trolley around Lake Calhoun and then headed over to Calhoun Beach Club, where Kate's sister, maid of honor, and Andy's brother, best man, toasted to the new couple leaving no eye dry, including my own! Your love for one another is transparent; thank you for allowing me to document it, I was so touched and feel so blessed to be a part of your day!

On vacation

Just got back from sunny Flordia with my wonderful hubby. We left the kiddos at home and took a break from life for 6 wonderful days! As much as I love my family, it is always a blessing to be away and reconnect with Kevin. So I am back at it, plugging away, refreshed and caught up on sleep. At least for this week!

Benjamin's first Birthday

In the Korean culture the first and 60the birthdays are most important. The first birthday signifies that the baby has made it through the first year and will have a long life. The 60the year represents that the person has had a long life and they are most truly blessed. I was able to be a part of one of the first birthday celebrations which included dancing, a marionette show, and of course birthday cake!

Heidi and I met a few years back in a music class for our kids. From there we have been a part of a moms group together as well as more music classes. Children's Desiring God 2009 Conference

For the second year, I have been able to photograph the 2009 Children's Desiring God (CDG) Conference. Here is a blip from the web-site:

All that God has ever done, is now doing, and ever will do is to show the “might of [His] awesome deeds... the fame of [His] abundant goodness.” God is making a name for Himself so that we would “declare [His] greatness.” One of the ways God does this is through one generation commending His works to another (Psalm 145:4-7). Because God is central in all of life, He must be central in all of our interactions with children. He is the center of our prayers, our teaching, our relationship building, our worship, our actions, our speech, and our thoughts. As we understand all of life as it relates to God at the center, we will be more equipped to orient children to the centrality of God. This is the focus of the 2009 Children Desiring God Conference.

Plenary speakers include John Piper, Paul David Tripp, Bruce Ware and David Michael. In addition, a number of diverse and experienced seminar leaders will provide practical help and encouragement for parents, teachers, leaders, and all who are invested in ministry to children and youth.

One of the best sermons I have ever heard is right here. "The God-Centeredness of the Gospel. Enjoy!!

So I am probably very biased, but I have the most amazingly fun clients this season. Tim and Erin were no exception! The kept me laughing as the day went on , and we had so much fun together. Even though we have only met a few times, I feel like they are old friends. We started out at the Radisson downtown, and from there headed out onto Nicolette to do some city shots. We hit up a hot dog stand, pop corn stand, and did some alley walking for some fun shots of everyone. LOVED, loved, loved Erin's vintage style. My favorite was her hair piece and the way her dress pulled the whole attire together. Many blessings to you both, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of the day and feel like I wasn't even working!

Already 9 months!?!

Watching my own children grow up is crazy enough, but seeing my friends' kids grow up makes me feel much older! When Andrea called to see if I would do Lucy's 9 month photos, I said "Already?" August we'll be heading out for her 1 year photos. I have been privileged to photograph her every 3 months and every time we are together I see a new beautiful personality trait come though! We headed to Centennial Lakes, and enjoyed the beautiful day. Thankfully we did get some great smiles from her, after much work from the both of us!

Dan and Erin are classmates of mine from high school. We haven't seen each other for over 10 years, but it seemed like nothing had changed. They are still the same two amazing people as I remembered them, and still very much in love. Now they have the coolest little boy, Nolan. This little man was so extremely easy to photograph (I can't stress that enough!!); he just smiled when the camera was in front of him. We had a great time perusing the St. Anthony/ Main area, one of my favorite places to photograph. Thanks Dan and Erin, so wonderful to see you both again!

The Gothman Family

The Gothman family decided to take me up on one of the May Mini sessions. They are such a sweet, down to earth family that loves the Lord. About a year and a half ago, their youngest, Ella, was adopted from China through an organization called Bethany Family Services. Our family was able to welcome her to our church family as the Gothman's brought her into theirs. As of now, Ella is one of my daughter Elise's best buds. They are two and trouble together! Their older two Cole and Hayley, are amazing kids and such a blessing to know!

I love babies. Seriously, I think I am obsessed. Every time I hold one, I get all gushy and think that another one really wouldn't be that hard to have, especially at 2 weeks! Little Grace was born to a couple that is near and dear to me. Sally and Chad have been clients of mine for a few years. When I shot their January wedding, they were so open to going outside in the freezing cold just to get some wintery shots, and had no problem when I asked them if we could put their 2 week bundle on the driveway! (Thankfully we had a 75 degree day and not below zero weather!) Sally and Chad thanks so much for allowing me to photograph Grace. I know what a treasure she is to you both.

Stacey, Justin and Mackenna met me at Como Park for their mini session. Mackenna was so happy for the entire session, she was one of the most happy 7 month olds I have seen! (I was able to photograph her little cousin Levi a month ago and he pretty much equates her happiness!) They are such a fun family to be around and I feel so blessed to be able to photograph them at this point in life! Hopefully these will tie you over until the whole session is complete! Enjoy!

Samantha and Josiah are such a fun and enjoyable couple to be around. We worked our way around Como park tying to avoid the crowds, which were plenty because of the beautiful weather. We ducked into the restaurant and did a few photos on the stairs and then hit up the old trolley station. I am looking forward to their big day in July when we'll meet again when they exchange vows!

As many of you know, my weekend has been filled with shoots! I am going to try! (try being the key word) to get as many of them up for a sneak peek of what happened!

It was so wonderful to meet up with the Junkers this weekend and do a family shoot for them (One of the first in the Mini May sessions). They brought along the darling 8 week old Audrey. Ohhh, she was a squeeze. Her facial expressions brought us all laughing, and we had a PERFECT day to shoot in.

Spring is finally here

The beauty of creation never ceases to amaze me, especially in the spring time. After the bitter cold of the winter, the newness of life blossoms ever before our eyes. I had the great priveledge of visiting Andrea, Brian and little Ella in their home to do one of Ella's first photo shoots at three weeks. Thankfully we had perfect lighting and I was able to get my newborn fix for the week... thanks Andrea for just letting me hold and smell Ella. She is a beauty!

I love my clients.

I love getting to know their personalities, the way they act in front and behind a camera. I love photographing them in their environment.

I love watching them interact with each other and I absolutely adore watching them interact with their children, probably because I can totally relate as a parent.

A word on the music...

Everyone wants to look good for summer, and I have joined the bandwagon. I have to admit, I am ready to be wearing tank tops even while carrying my camera around while shooting. So a peek into my personal life... (Appealing right?) I am in a class at my local YMCA called Body Pump with a few friends. The song on the blog is from one of the tracks, shoulders. So while I am pumping the weight I am thinking, "tank tops", "summer", and hopefully one of these days, the warmth will come to this Minneapolis city!

He's Here!

I received the text at 6:45 "he's here!" and then the call from my brother in law, Andrew, at 7:30. Asher James was born this morning! I made the quick decision (although I don't really think there was much to really think about) to head down to Rochester to see this little cutie later that afternoon. Lydia was so chatty the whole way down there with thoughts that I was having, "who did he look like", "how big was he" and "oh I can't wait to hold him!" The questions were to be answered when we arrived at the hospital and got to see this perfect little gem. I don't think there is anything sweeter than holding a precious newborn for the first time. It is my very, best, absolute, favorite thing to do, and I am thankful to be an auntie times 5 now!My sister, Claire, after the delivery. She looks fabulous!

Ahh, what a breath of fresh air this couple is. Totally down to earth and still so much in love. I photographed this beautiful couple in 2006 when they were married at a vineyard in Stillwater. They were, and still are, such a cute couple. We enjoyed the scenery around the Sculpture gardens and took advantage of the wonderful spring weather. Officially they are my last couple to take advantage of the winter promo. More promos to come for April, I will be posting one soon!

My beautiful sister, 40 weeks

Claire is now the mom of 3 beautiful children. We did this shoot only a few days before my new little nephew was born (but more of those to come later this week)! I just wanted to get some of the photos we did of her before her little guy was born up on here. Of course we had to do some of all the cousins together and a few of my niece and nephew, just for fun!

So here is just a brief example of what I do when I go into someone's home to do a shoot!

On the phone Audra was telling me that their home had tons of natural light, but not too many locations to shoot in. Therefore we set up this brown blanket, held up by 2 chairs, and put the girls on it for a backdrop. We also took some household items (a basket and a super cute pink rocking chair) and used them as props. So above is the set-up and below is the final product. I did absolutely no cropping.

These two little girls were so adorable and yummy I just want to eat them up! Audra is a long time client and when she saw I was running the winter special she contacted me and we set up a time to shoot photos of their beautiful family! Blog followers!! I have been pretty lax this week on keeping up with this. My hubbie was off in India which left me alone with my 3 kiddos and very little time to get on the computer, let alone check e-mail. Thankfully he is back in the US recouping from the 11 hour difference in jet lag and I am back at it! Many new posts to come this week. These quick shots were taken one of the days Lydia was given a bride dress by a friend of hers. So here we start with the "playing" pretend bride, and yes, I did shed some tears as I was shooting. Could have been lack of sleep though...

The Sharbono family

This is the sweet, classy, and kind Sharbono family. Before my oldest, Lydia, was born Rebecca was my boss at Career Professionals. She has the most AMAZING, contagious laugh! Last year she and her husband Justin welcomed their beautiful baby girl Addica to their family.

We spent a bit of the morning wandering around the Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens and just letting Addica be a kiddo. These are my favorite kind of shoots, where kids are just kids. You never know what you're going to get, but it is always great fun! (check out the much loved duckie... what adventures they have had together!)

Ahhh, this little guy is so adorable, check out those baby blues! Jared and Lydia are wonderful friends of ours and were married in 2007. ( I think you can even see snippets of their wedding on this blog, they are one of the first posts that I had!) I think we are all looking forward to our boys growing up together. This guy was all smiles for the camera and we had a great morning together!

Jonas is 9 months

Claire is another previous client who was married in 2006. She is yet another client who has taken me up on the winter promo. We have been trying to schedule a time to photograph Jonas for a long time and Monday afternoon I was able to meet and photograph this handsome little man! I love it when history is incorporated in shoots. This little stool that Jonas is holding was made by his auntie and shows his Swedish background. Hopefully the next time I'll be photographing him, he'll be able to stand with it, he wasn't quite there yet...

So after returning home with a day of shoots and errands, I ran down to my office to try and catch up on e-mails, leaving Lydia to do some "creative stuff" (her words) on her own. 10 minutes later she comes down looking like this (with Elise along for the ride) saying "mom look how creative I got, but it doesn't come off!" Very good Lydia, and we headed to the bathtub right after the camera was put away...

Hey to all you blog followers! Thanks for keeping up with me even during the slow months of the wedding season. I thought I'd post a few photos from a wedding I shot with my good friend Ali from September. ( Just looking at the photos makes me long for warmer weather!) It's always a nice change of pace to be a second shooter rather than the main shooter. At that time both she and I were 7 months pregnant and both showing very much. We both had to laugh as we together were waddling all over shooting June and Duane, an amazing couple! Thanks Ali, for letting me be a part of the day!

Children's Museum

So here and there I have to add a few family photos. My middle daughter, Elise, turned 2 on Feb.10th. Instead of doing the big party, we decided to hit up the Children's Museum for the day. Grandma and Grandpa joined us from Milwaukee, and we all had a blast.

Caydon is 18 months!?! I feel like he is one of my own! This is the 5th shoot that I have done for Melissa and Caydon, but this time around, there is a new little one to add to the mix! Baby GIRL Cox is due in May, and I am looking forward to doing many shoots of her and her adorable big bro!

One of my favorites from the day... both looking in opposite directions and totally unaware of each other! I had the opportunity to shoot photos of Lucy when she was born, again at 3 months, and now at the 6 month mark! She is the daughter of a good friend of mine. Her nursery is amazingly beautiful and girlie. I was highly inspired to use as much of it as possible! Lucy shot us some amazing smiles and expressions throughout the time! I am looking forward to many more shoots of this little one and watching her grow throughout the years!

This little man is now 6 months old! Amazing how fast kiddos grow! I was able to photograph Jonathan at 7 weeks and just look at how he has grown. Sarah and Chris took advantage of the winter promo as well. Even though this little guy was so tired, he still shot us some famous two tooth grins!

So, yes, it has taken me THIS LONG to put together my own son's birth announcement! I have to admit looking at him this tiny, and now he is only 9 weeks old!, makes me want to cry. (Probably all those post-partum hormones hanging around). I really must confess that this has been the fastest 9 weeks of all three of them. So mom's, cherish it. It really does fly by.

Scott and Holly are two amazing people with beautiful hearts. The two met at a local gas station, dated for a while, and then decided to tie the knot only 4 months ago! They quickly planned their winter wonderland wedding which pulled together beautifully. Both were so laid back and totally brave to head out in the freezing cold weather ( I think the high was 17). Absolutely one of my favorite weddings... ever! I can't say enough about this wedding!

Vince and Amanda are an amazing couple. My family drove down to attend and for me to photograph this wonderful couple. My husband and Vince became friends in college and Vince had a profound effect on my husband's faith and walk with Christ. (He was one of the groomsmen in our wedding!) To him I am am forever grateful. We met Amanda in August and realized she was the perfect match for Vince. Both are extremely witty, genuine, fun, and laid back people. (Just my type!) This played itself out in the photos. The day of the wedding we did a few different shots around the church and at the reception site, but my favorites are the photos taken downtown Chicago the day after the wedding, something I would highly recommend! Because the couple loves the city, we wandered around the downtown streets and shooting at various places; The Art Institute, The "Bean" and even a Subway station before they took off on their Europe honeymoon!

Many thanks to both of you for allowing me to be a huge part of your day! We love you and pray God's blessing over you as you enter this amazing covenant of marriage! Hope these can tie you over for awhile! Thanks also for loving Lydia who was memorized and enticed by Amanda's beauty and was the only child completely unaware that she was standing right in the middle of the dance floor during their first dance!

She had the dress. He had the rings. They tied the knot!

Luke and Marissa had been waiting for the perfect occasion to get married and on the 23rd of December, they were married on a carriage ride around the Mississippi mile area. We got together an hour before they were married and walk all around the romantic Nicolette Island Inn hotel in Minneapolis and took advantage of the Christmas decorations. What a sweet evening for a wonderful couple. Congrats!

The Kinley Family

Christmas is the time when family is together again. Because of this, the Kinley family called to see if I was available to shoot photos of their family who is from MN and the east cost. We went to the conservatory to get some indoor and outdoor photos. MN is notorious for its wonderful weather, you never know what type of weather you'll get. This day we got a wonderful snow storm, so thankfully we had 2 different locations to shoot in!

You may or may not be able to recognize this beautiful little baby. I was able to photograph Lucy when she was 2 days old, and already (where does the time go?) she has hit the three month mark! So the Feder name continues on! Late Friday night I started having contractions, and three hours later this little guy arrived at 2:56am. Thankfully everything went very fast and very well. We are all at home now and enjoying having a little testosterone in our home. Ben has been loved on bunches by his big sisters. Of course I couldn't have left home without my camera to photograph this little guy at 24 hours old! Thanks to all who visited, called and blessed us by praying! We look forward to our life with 3 kiddos!

The Springfield family are close friends of ours from our church. This is the second year that I have photographed their family for their Christmas photo. Because she wanted a more rustic looking location, Julie found a perfect place for their family; the Anoka County fair grounds. What a fun venue! It was perfect for what she was looking for, and we hit it at just the right time lighting wise, the sunset was beautiful. I look forward to many more shoots of this beautiful family!

Caeli and Nick... Waiting for August

Caeli and Nick were a referral to me. When we met to discuss their wedding, we hit it off right away! They are such a cool and collected couple. Their wedding date is set for August at St. Thomas, and the reception to follow at Edina Country Club. We traveled around the St. Paul area to the place where the couple was engaged, over to campus, and then to Caeli's backyard to photograph some surprise photos for Nick's family, who owns a palette company. We just had to do some photos with the palettes, and they even made me laugh with some stories including "gold palettes!"

One of my roommates from college, Beth, called to see if I would be willing to photograph their entire extended family. Because this month is much slower than last month, it was easier for me than it was for them! Finding the time to get all the Johnson's together was very difficult, especially when there are 26 people involved! I was hired by the Bainey Group, an organization that does reconstruction and construction of indoor and outdoor locations, and I have to admit, I have been challenged...and LIKE it! Looking though the lens of the camera in a whole new way, for advertising purposes, brings me a thrill. (Iknow it sounds weird!) Plus they are a company that does amazing work and works with the clients to suit their needs. Love, love, love this couple! It's not everyday that I am able to photograph two people just overflowing with love for one another! It eminates from them! And they both share my passion for art. Andy is in advertising with Target and Kate works in design, so they both were ready to do some more creative shots. We hit up an area of Lake Harriet (43trd and Upton) and walked around the block finding everything from the old historic library to an off street motorcycle to use as props! I am so pumped to be shooting their May wedding and can't wait to see what we find to work with then!

Kelly Jo was a referral to me, and as we chatted on the phone, we realized that we were at Northwestern at the same time! She and her hubbie, Jon, are in the process of raising support to go out to Austria and be church planters, so already I realized we had a lot in common. About 2 weeks ago their son Evan was born with little Owen more in love with him as any proud big brother would be. I was fortunate enough to get some great shots of their family together and we all enjoyed the beautiful afternoon together!
